In bent-knee inversion units such as the Invertrac, the user bends at the hip area over a thigh pad. In a straight leg traction unit the user attaches their ankles to a clamp like device and then inverts on a bed type apparatus.

What are the advantages of a bent-knee over straight leg device?

In a bent knee unit the user does not involve their ankles, knees or hips in the inversion process, eliminating stress to these body joints. Also in the bent-knee position you are in the perfect position to relax the psoas muscles (groin area) and flatten out the lumbar area of the back for maximum traction.

In a straight leg traction unit your whole body weight is supported by your ankles when in the complete inversion position and the lumbar area of the spine maintains the lumbar curve. It is hard to get proper traction on a curve.

The Invertrac unit has a unique design unlike any other bent-knee unit in the marketplace. There is an adjustment for a user’s length of leg from the back of the knee to the groin. This allows your back to hang over the pad with only your thighs on the thigh pad . Without hanging straight in a device there is no way that you can achieve maximum traction.

For other Invertrac features for adjustment please refer to our Features page on the website.

A table for back pain should be both comfortable to use and adjustable for an individual's specific needs. The Invertrac inversion table accomplishes both, is easy to set-up and provides inversion table benefits for the relief of back pain.

A - Adjustment for thigh thickness. The first hole is to allow the most clearance. Adjust it so that the padded portion fits comfortably behind the back of knee without restriction.

B - Adjust femur adjustment dial so that part A (the restraint bar) fits comfortably behind the back of the knee but allows a user to hang over the thigh pad properly. The groin (where you bend into a 90 degree angle) should just touch the outer front edge of the thigh pad. The thigh should be completely on the thigh pad. Generally, the smaller the number on the dial, the shorter the length of the leg from the groin to the knee. A very tall person with long legs would probably set the dial to #4. The smaller the number on the dial, the shorter the length of the leg from the groin to the knee. To see actual pictures of the inverting process, please go to the "How To Use" menu tab and click on Invertrac.

C - This is the adjustment for clearance from the floor. The least clearance is the first hole from the handle grip. The maximum clearance is the last hole from the handle grip. A user receiving inversion therapy's head should not touch the floor at any time. It might be that after inversion, it is necessary to adjust this setting. (Due to stretching).
